London Community Center Expansion Takes Shape

The London Community Center reached an important milestone on June 10 with the arrival and installation of its new modular building, bringing the long-awaited grand opening one step closer.

The new facility was delivered in two sections and joined on site, creating the largest footprint the center has ever had. The upgraded space will feature two entry points, including a wheelchair-accessible ramp serving as the main entrance on the east side.

Once completed, the expanded center will offer approximately 1,440 square feet of improved space designed to better serve the community. The facility will include two private offices to support mental health services and other programs requiring confidentiality, allowing partner agencies to provide on-site services within the community of London. Additional upgrades include an indoor restroom and full air conditioning, creating a more comfortable and functional environment for both staff and participants.

Further site improvements are still underway, including a paved parking lot as well as renovations to the exterior kitchen area and restroom facilities.

This redevelopment is made possible through funding from the Tulare County Health and Human Services Agency via ARPA support. The project also includes collaboration with the Tulare County Housing Authority, which is assisting with exterior improvements, restroom upgrades, and ongoing site maintenance.

During construction, Connie Huerta and her team will continue serving the community from the LCAPP buildings located across from the London Market in the center of town.
