This month’s Spotlight Award recipient for June is Beatriz Serna, recognized for her outstanding dedication and service to students in the Education Division.
A few years ago, the Education Division partnered with local food banks to launch an on-site food pantry for students experiencing food insecurity. Since then, the need has steadily grown, along with the pantry’s impact.
Over the past six months alone, nearly 5,000 pounds of food have been distributed to students. The pantry provides essential items such as fresh vegetables, canned goods, and frozen meats, helping ensure students have access to nutritious food when they need it most.
For many students, this support has been essential. One student shared, “If it were not for the school food pantry, my family wouldn't have food for the weekend,” highlighting the real difference the program continues to make.
Beatriz Serna plays a central role in this effort. She manages the pantry by coordinating orders and inventory and also supports student success by organizing graduation ceremonies. Her dedication, reliability, and willingness to step in wherever needed make her an invaluable part of the team.
We are proud to recognize Beatriz Serna as the June Spotlight Award winner for her commitment to supporting students and strengthening our programs.
